Mothercare Sale.

Mothercare is on sale until February 17.

For me it's the Marks & Spencer for kids because the clothes are chic and of good quality.  And whenever they are on sale, items are indeed a bargain.

Bought 3 shirts for my little boy.  Price range is from Php250 to Php350 -- greaat prices considering that original ones are Php500 and above!

Also bought socks (package of 3 pairs) and 5-sets of briefs for Php250 each!

Mothercare is now managed by Bench so if you have the Bench loyalty cards, don't forget to bring them for more points!

Mercato.

There was much ado about Mercato at the Bonifacio Global City so hubby and I decided to check it out during one weekend of January.  Our little boy tagged along so pardon me for the lacking pictures.

People call it the rich man's palengke, similar to the Salcedo Market at the Velasquez park in Makati.  The place is open during weekends from 6AM to 2PM (though I heard that there are plans to turn it to a night weekend market).  During our visit, we got there at around 10:30AM.  Many of the stalls were closed for the day already so better to be earlier next time.

There are two tents and a food gallery outside where tables and chairs were set up for folks who want to enjoy the food right then and there.

Products sold were mostly organic stuff.  There were also tons of desserts.  Something that caught my eye was Michiko Mochiko.  Mochi balls (which are my super faves) with ice cream inside.  One ball was P45 and you are advised to wait around 2 mins before chomping.

You will also find a lot of delicacies.  Hubby found a stall selling one of his favorites, the Tulingan -- fish that was processed like the Spanish-style sardines only that this is bigger and not canned.

The Tulingan was stored in this banga.

Cost was around Php50 each.  We bought 3.

Brought 'em home for lunch.  Served yummier with patis and calamansi extract.

My Christmas Wishlist -- How Did I Fare?

Let's see how many wishes in a Christmas wishlist do come true.

1.  Belle de Jour 2011 Power Planner (CHECK).  Did not get it for Christmas but my teammates gave it to me as a transferring-to-another-team gift.  It was one of those 'awww' moments.  Thanks, DSO! :)

2.  Mini mouse that will match my netbook (CHECK).  Care of my in-laws.  It does match my machine -- cute, pink (on the sides) and gurly!
From Iphone loads

3.  Gown/dress for my Christmas affairs (CHECK).  This was my gift to me.  The dress was by Noel Crisostomo and purchased in Myth.  It was beyond my budget so I must wear it again to be all worth it!  Ha!

4.  Girly laptop trolley bag (CHECK).  My hubby's gift to me (after Christmas!) and it's on its way to Manila in February.

5.  Great spa treatment (CHECK).

6.  Earphone + mic to replace my worn out one for my iPhone.  Save for next year or just put it in my Birthday wishlist because of urgency?

7.  Holiday in HK.  Save this for next year.

8.  Winning the lottery ticket.  Put this in my daily wishlist.

9.  Suesh Makeup brushes. The Personal Elegant Set.  Save for next year.

Oh!  That's 5 out of 9 not counting world peace.  I did well then.

Thomas and My Boy.

My son is hypnotized by Thomas the train and his friends.  Not a day goes by without him mentioning Thomas, Annie, Clarabel, Percy, James and all the others.

It all started when he was just an infant watching Playhouse Disney channel.  The Thomas song caught his ear and he enjoyed listening to it over and over again.  He started watching the episodes later on to which his Dad did not approve because the show seemed gloomy.

He got his first Thomas toy from our friend, JR, for his second birthday.  And that triggered the Thomas overload that, I predict, will not wane anytime soon.

See his collection of Thomas trains.  Gifts from everyone.

Now, closer.  The very first Thomas train now has a cracked head.  It still works, though.

His Dad's Christmas gift to him... elevated tracks! (Tomy brand)

His Lolo's gift to him.  Knapford Station with Percy in Fisher Price brand (They do have Thomas in different brands!).

He also has Thomas dinner set and bathing toy from one of his lolas, Thomas socks and towel, Thomas shirts, Thomas books and Thomas briefs.

Not a bad thing at all... though we are careful not to shower him with lots of Thomas.  He plays with them as if he is a storyteller -- something which develops his creativity.  I credit Thomas for that.

Now, my little boy's birthday is coming in April.  If you have nothing in mind yet, you might consider giving him a Thomas and Friends train (in Tomy and Fisher Price brands).

Kit Kat Green Tea!!!

One thing I love about Japan is that they never run out of ideas.  Cars, trains, cellphones, fast food, men skirts, toilet seats (with heaters and automated bidet)... name it.  They are always ahead of everyone.

So, Kit Kat is never boring in Japan.  They have it in Green Tea.

Cindy has been feeding me with Kit Kat Green Tea for the past two days. I {heart} Green Tea + Kit Kat.  Thanks!!

Care for some Kit Kat Wasabi?

Picasa.

From Flickr to Snapfish to Multiply... now to Picasa.

Flickr, if you want it free, has a storage limit that is so limited (300MB or 200 photos)... going beyond that will cost more than $20.

Snapfish was good but cannot share photos via HTML Code.

Multiply does not have an iPhone app that can upload my photos from the phone to the website.

Picasa seems promising.
  • Free storage is up to 1GB.  If your photos don't fit anymore, just pay $5 for a 20GB storage.
  • It can share photos via the HTML code... very friendly for a blogger.
  • I found an iPhone app that let's me upload my photos anytime, anywhere.
  • Plus, Blogger and Picasa are both from Google!

Google is starting to grow on me.

I Love St. Luke's Global City, Too!

I am a super fan of The Medical City.

For me, it's the best hospital in Manila for the following reasons:

1. Never had a horrific experience with them yet.

2. Lines in Metro Manila hospitals/clinics is as natural as hospital beds... sometimes even more natural.  In the numerous times that I have been to Medical City and its doctors' clinics, my waiting time averages 30 minutes.  For an impatient person like me, that is Disneyland.

3. The nurses and staff are service-oriented.  You would not feel that you owe your life from them.

4.  The building, rooms and facilities do not look old.  They have hot water in the room toilet and batch.  Plus, they have Starbucks, Pancake House and Max's.

Last December, however, I also became a fan of St. Luke's Global City (note the italicization).

I suddenly had recurrence of my cold sore several days before the wedding of my girlfriend.  I, of course, did not want some wound on my lips on that grand day so I resorted to a buying an expensive cream for faster healing.

It was a Monday night.  I thought I could not delay the cream any longer so hubby and I drove to Global City to check on the drugstores.  While I did not bank on Mercury Drugstore because they usually close early (!), I trusted that the Southstar Drugstore located at the Shell Station is open until 11pm.  It was indeed open but the cream I was looking for was not available.

Passing through the St. Luke's, I saw the bright "Pharmacy" sign.  We, then, took a turn and took a chance.  Turned out great.  The security guards were so polite and told me that I can make a purchase in the hospital pharmacy!

Went up to the 5th floor (I think!) for the Pharmacy.

Learned it was the outpatient pharmacy.  Pharmacist said purchase from a non-patient is not a problem.

The cream was, however, far more expensive than the ordinary drugstore price so good thing they accept credit cards.

The whole time the security guards allowed my hubby to wait at the lobby driveway.  Customer service is about bending the rules sometimes.  I smell empowered guards because they know when situation requires for it.  Panalo!

Thank you, St. Luke's Global City!  I was able to buy the cream so I looked fantabulous during my girlfriend's wedding.

Happy 2011.

It's the 5th New Year's Eve for hubby and me... the 3rd with our little boy (who was, by the way, sound asleep the whole night).

Spent the night before January 1 in my folks' place.

We lit up firecrackers around 11pm.  Greeted each other with a beso at 12mn.  Went back in the house for Media Noche at around 12:30am.

It was a modest supper.  Baked mac, bread, ham, grapes, wine and cheese.

I pray that our family will have a peaceful, happy, prosperous and healthy 2011.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Repost: Getting Old and Realizing It

(Because we just welcomed 2011, I am reposting an entry I made in my former blog now that we are all set to add another "1" to our ages.)

December 23, 2006

2006 is about to end so I will be another year older in a few weeks time.

I used to think that a person’s 21st year on earth is the earliest old age. You’re officially away from the teens and officially in the running for the decade counts.

When I turned 21, I did not feel old. I was in fact feeling the same way I did when I was 19 — only that I needed to start working to fend for my wants in life. For the next 5 years, I thought that I was never too old for anything.

The happenings of the past week, however, brought me to an awakening… I am starting to age a bit. (And no, I don’t take it negatively… just something that is bound to dawn on me soon because I am a little bit retarded in terms of maturity.)

** I volunteered myself to dance for our team/floor in the Christmas Party group dance competition. Oh, I was sure that I have two left feet but I was so confident about it due to the fact that I have participated on several cheerdancing competitions during my school days. It should not be that difficult…
The dance was Loose My Breath by Destiny’s Child and it was difficult. Aside from the fact that I had my wisdom tooth pulled out right in the middle of the practices, I just could not follow. The tempo was so fast, I had to move a lot, my body was too heavy — there was too much complication.
In the meantime, my younger officemates were strutting their stuff easily, with little instruction and without too much effort.
I should just stick to my dancefloor grindings and ballroom dancing next year…

** Our Christmas party was indeed a blast. I had my fifteen minutes of fame due to several Pepe Lopez tequila shots — about 5 to 7. I usually have a habit of pushing people to the spotlight when I am a little tipsy. This time around, I was a bit more drunk so I was easily whisked toward the stage. After some “pokpok” (slutty) dancing moves in front of everyone, I declared to myself that it was my most “bangenge” (intoxicated) night after several years.
During my heydays, I did not usually get drunk easily. While I thought to myself that I still would have done some “pokpok” moves that night, I would have easily given up the fight, leave the title to somebody else and not end up as one of the top two “pokpoks” in the house.
Gone also are the days wherein after 3 days I would have physically recovered from extreme partying and return to my old up and about self in school. Recovery period for this Christmas party took more than a week. I was sleeping on my office desk at lunchtime up until Friday.

** I realized just awhile ago that my youngest sister is in her 3rd year in college. Before this afternoon, I was in this dream sequence that she is still in her 2nd year (actually sometimes, I exaggerate and think that she hasn’t finished high school yet). My brother should, thus, be in his 4th year. Both already have significant others and do go out to gimmicks. The youngest is even having too much of them.

My metabolism is getting slower and slower. I am moving slower. I can’t remember the last time my parents shouted at me. I am starting to not get the drift of my two youngest siblings. There are songs, TV shows and games that my younger officemates do not remember.

I am getting old.

And I am not even halfway done…
